Design Plan Reviews are a great investment for any project. A plan review performed by our engineers will greatly increase the feasibility of success of the design. A quality plan review can help avoid costly mistakes and help minimize the time and expense of making changes during construction. Design Plan Review is a service that is typically provided to general contractors, home builders, commercial developers and architects, but it can also be utilized by property owners and buyers. We work with all of our clients to ensure their plans are reviewed and returned in a timely manner.
A good HVAC design will ensure that your heating, cooling, and ventilating system(s) perform effectively and efficiently. The most common mistake encountered is oversized equipment. An oversized air conditioning system can result in higher monthly utility bills, shorter equipment life cycle, increased maintenance, poor temperature control and indoor humidity issues. A properly designed HVAC system can help determine the most energy efficient option and provide you with a longer equipment life cycle.
A building or room gains heat from many sources, the sum of all these heat sources is know as the heat load of the building. For an air conditioning system to effectively cool a room or building the output of the system must be greater that the heat load of the building. It is important before purchasing an air conditioning system to have a heat load calculation performed to ensure that the new unit is properly sized to handle the heat load. We have the training and experience to properly size and select the most efficient system for your needs.
In residential applications, a Manual J calculation and Manual S selection are required by many code enforcement agencies to ensure the proper design and selection of HVAC equipment. The Manual J calculation is used to determine the heating and cooling loads of a home, identifying the recommended capacity of the HVAC equipment. The Manual S picks up where the Manual J leaves off and provides a mechanism for selecting a piece of equipment based on the design load from the Manual J. With an engineer’s signature and seal, the code enforcement approval phase runs more smoothly.
